in principio erat Verbum et Verbum erat apud Deum et Deus erat Verbum
The holy emperor to the east hears the cry of his most distant subjects, the infidels and pagans at the frontiers of his divine empire. Plague wracks their lands, and beasts spill forth from the west. The holy emperor promises security and peace. In turn, he demands but one offering: their faith.
